Staffing Update: 

New GIS: We are very happy to announce another West Hills Alum, Brianne "Breezy"  Svacina will be joining us full time as our new Guidance Information Specialist. Breezy just completed her PPS credential while interning in our Guidance Department and is an excellent fit for us! Please look for Breezy in Guidance and say "Hi" on campus! 

Finance Tech position: Qualified  candidates will take the required District exam on May 31 with interviews on June 12. We hope to have the new person in place by mid-June. 

German Teacher position: We are holding interviews June 1 and hope to announce our new full time German Teacher by June 7. 

Admin Team: We are THRILLED to announce we will have the same Admin Team for 2017-18!

All teachers of any grades are welcome on your prep period to wish our Seniors well as they prepare for their big day!).

Thursday, June 1 Senior Awards Night, 6:30 pm in Theater; Seniors who are receiving awards are already notified; All are welcome to attend. 

Tuesday, June 6, 12:30: End of Year Luncheon in the Foyer--please join us as we celebrate the year and send off our new retirees and welcome back our alumni faculty and staff who are not out traveling the world. 

Wednesday, June 7, 7:30-12:00: Senior Breakfast and Graduation Rehearsal in the Gym; All teachers of Seniors during these periods (according to finals schedule) please join us in the Gym to supervise and support our work with the Seniors to get them ready for the ceremony the next day.

Thursday, June 8, GRADUATION: More specifics to come--ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m on our field however, faculty and staff participating have earlier call times. This is a contractual work day.

Monday, June 12-Friday, June 30: Summer School at HOC next door; 7:15-12:30. Very limited offerings--credit recovery for 11th and 12th graders primarily with a few exceptions;

Monday, June 12-August 1: Admin and staff working out of Guidance and Library spaces; Only parking for staff and visitors is West lot by Performing Arts. One walking / ADA  access path to Library and Guidance building is down by Gym on interior of campus. No photocopying available of any kind. No access to campus or classrooms.

July 24-28, 2017: Entire campus closed except for construction. District "Dark Week".

News from the Week...
Image result for Multicultural FairTHANK YOU to ALL Faculty and Staff who made this wonderful day happen--Jodi Kohler (AVID, Math), Dan Sutton (Social Science), Chris Quarders (MSF) and all the Club Advisers...students enjoyed the student and professional performers from many different cultures as well as talking with their peers from their Club booths! Here is a highlight video from Deborah Heeb's Salsa Club...Ole! as well as photos of the clubs present. It is GREAT to see students celebrate and learn from each other!

Admin relating to students...Josh goes "old school" in this throw back Friday fun for a group of sophomores....you can't see the BIG GOLD CHAIN he was rockin' for the guys...but it is there! 




POWDER PUFF fun--Juniors Girls vs. Senior Girls....Juniors won and fun was had by all! Thank you Ardy Riego, Coach ASH and Football athletes who helped coach and make this happen! The girls had a great time!! 



Thursday night..Honors Choir was celebrating and singing in their Spring Concert! Adam Pezdek and students put on a terrific musical night with great ensemble and solo acts! 





The 2017 Summer Institute schedule is now available! Join us for a series of learning opportunities that cover CTE, EL, NGSS, assessment, and technology.
  • Session 1: July 10 - 14
  • Session 2: July 31 - August 4
Most workshops are available during both sessions. Attend either week or both! There are numerous workshop options that cover EL, CTE, technology, NGSS, and assessment topics.

Monday:        Collaboration Day; Science "Full Paw Society" Awards night--S8 
                                                           from 5-7 p.m. 

Tuesday:       Regular Day; Classified Meeting; 3:00 p.m. Lounge

Wednesday:  Regular Day; Multi-Cultural Fair all day in the Gym; 
                                                 Students visit with their Social Science classes
                                                 Guidance is hosting a CSU / UC night in S-8 from 6-7 
                                                 pm for grades 9-11 students and their parents. 
                                                 Students sign up in Guidance.

Thank you to all Faculty and Staff who attended Prom! Students LOVED seeing you and THANK YOU to Ms. Aguilar and Mr. Riego (Class Advisers) for all of your time and effort with the Class of 2017! Thank you  to Ms. Young (Mentor Adviser extraordinaire) for working with them on this journey!

"Wolf Call"newsletter: CALL for ITEMS--please submit items to Robin by this Wednesday, May 24 for inclusion in the final "Wolf Call" for parents for the 2016-17 school year. Really looking for any items of interest to students and parents that inform and celebrate our programs! Photos with captions are EXCELLENT! Help me promote and inform our school community about the wonderful things we are doing!  Preview events for the summer and next school year are very welcome as well. Thank you!!

Super Congratulations to Girls Gymnastics for being Co-Champs for CIF with La Costa Canyon! Tessa Anderson obliterated her own CIF record by winning all 4 optional events and setting new records on the floor, beam, and all-around! Last year her all around score of 38.1 was crushed by her NEW record this year with a 38.885! Congratulations to TESSA, Coach Liz and all the girls!!

West Hills Yearbook is pleased to announce that our 30th edition has been finalized and is currently being printed.  Our dedicated team of 24 students completed the 320-page book just before spring break.  Distribution is Tuesday, 30 May 2017 during lunch for students who have cleared fines, but juniors and seniors who have cleared all fines can pick up their books early on Friday, 26 May and enjoy them over the long weekend!  Students must have a photo ID and will need to sign for their books.  (School- or State-issued IDs are both accepted.)  Some books are still available for purchase at yearbookforever.com.

Wednesday, May 24, Multi-Cultural Fair in the Gym: Social Science will take classes to the event during the normal bell schedule day. Lists of students excused for the day as participants will be forthcoming. This is a very exciting and fun day for all--please come visit us on your Prep period and we THANK Jodi Kohler and Dan Sutton for supporting and leading this effort with our student groups SO MUCH!! We also THANK the ENTIRE SOCIAL SCIENCE Department for your continuous support and facilitation each year.
