To all teachers who participated in our first campus-wide Interim CAASPP Assessment (ICA) scoring. A great deal of gratitude to the terrific English teachers Cece Boehme, Danny Tricarico, AJ Acosta, Barb Ruggles, Casey Ash, Michelle Liddell and Carrin Edwards for leading this important work in our four Literacy Groups. Teachers gave great feedback and constructive commentary via the google feedback form which will be shared by John Hoadley.
Hopefully this experience sparked discussions and awareness of the rigor and types of assessments our juniors are expected to engage with and allows for thoughtful review of grade 9 and 10 literacy experiences across all content areas to support each student´s practice and mastery of reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Next up for our students....the ICA in Mathematics in January. While we are NOT asking teachers to participate in the scoring of this, if you have an interest in participating, please see John Hoadley. Scoring the Math portion is very different than ELA and we welcome any interest.
Winter Choir and Band Concert....
Thank you Ms. Elise Reinert and our Choir and Band for their lovely
Winter Concert Friday night! These students sounded lovely and
gave the entire audience a wonderful music boost to our holiday spirits!
Thank you to all who contributed to our Adopt-A-Family program this season. With all of your generous donations, we were able to gift holiday cheer of gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations, Wal Mart, Target and many fast food and other restaurants in the East County region to 7 West Hills students in very tough circumstances. You made 7 teens feel incredible!
