Innovation in Collaboration Teaching Award
West Hills High School's Pete Mergens, Santana High School's Ramey Rahib and ECVHS's Matt Kershaw worked many hours to make the new Integrated Math II curriculum roll out go easier on students and staff. They created additional student and staff resources for all to use. Working together, in a way that will also benefit staff and students at every GUHSD campus earned them this prestigious award! There is this great video posted on the East County Schools Federal Credit Union - ECSFCU Facebook page. Check it out!

Guidance Takes Students to SDSU
Thank you to our terrific Guidance Team for coordinating another field trip to SDSU on Friday, Nov. 15. Outreach via parents and student Infinite Campus messaging, bulletin notices, fliers posted around campus and many individual discussions encouraging students to attend allowed interested Seniors, Juniors and at-promise students to spend the day at SDSU. Funded through District College and Career outreach, GIS Victoria Catlett and Guidance Chair and Counselor Rodd Moses spent the day answering questions, taking students to meet SDSU staff, and helping students understand college and university life. We are fortunate to have trips like these to SDSU, UCSD, Grossmont, Cuyamaca, and Mira Mar Colleges each year for our students.

West Hills Adopt a Family
Positive Acts of Collective Kindness
West Hills staff is once again collecting donations for West Hills Families in need. Our goal is to give each family the freedom to purchase whatever makes their holidays the most rewarding, so we'd prefer to collect donations of gift cards or cash. Our suggested gift cards would be: Famous Footwear, Walmart, Target, (inexpensive) restaurants (including fast food), Kohl's, gas cards, grocery store, entertainment (movies, miniature golf, etc.), and Costco are all appreciated, just to name a few.
If you would like to make a donation, please drop off gift cards or cash (no checks please) to our front receptionist, Shelley LaFata or to Ginny Bell. Last year we were able to help 7 West Hills students giving each one $450 in donations!
We can provide a tax receipt if requested.
The deadline for collection is Thursday, December 12th. Our plan is to get the gifts to the families before we leave on winter break. We thank you in advance for supporting students and families in need.
We are One, We are the Pack!
