Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your student is doing a fantastic job at distance learning in [class name] at West Hills High School. I appreciate them showing up at zoom twice a week and doing what needs to be done.
Let them know I notice.
Thank you,
West Hills PSAT / SAT update
Due to the coronavirus, we will NOT be testing grades 10 / 11
with the PSAT this year. It is offered as a paper / pencil test only and on a Wednesday. Due to our limited time in our Quarter, this is not a viable option for us.
We will, however, be joining the District with offering the SAT on campus on Oct. 14
after the school day is over (for the majority of Seniors) at 1:00 p.m. in our Gym.
Please see this flyer that went out to all Seniors and their Parents for more information.
If you are willing to proctor this exam with us for additional pay, please let Carrie Gaeir know.
West Hills High School
Hello.
The District and GEA have come to an agreement which allows this bell schedule to be published. Although we do NOT have a return to campus with students in level 2 start date, we wanted you to be aware of this bell schedule negotiated for this year only.
A few items to note:
(1) Every one is EXPECTED to Sign in AND OUT in B2 daily. We MUST KNOW who is on campus and who is not. This should be happening NOW as well as when we return to campus in level 2.
(2) The Advisory 20 mins. of time added in per. 3/4 is for social-emotional / college and career readiness / campus based "housekeeping" items like the TUPE Survey etc. Lessons are created by both District and Site based interests and activities. Information and "lessons" will be sent (ideally) on Wednesday of one week for use in the following week. Teachers of all content areas in period 3/4 are expected to use this Advisory time with the prepared video / presentation / form link that include directions to the teacher and directions to the students.
(2) Students with a "hole" in their schedule will be directed to a supervised classroom or site location to remain for an informal "study hall" with adult supervision and maintaining 6 ft. social distancing.
(3) More information (including screencasts) will be forthcoming regarding student lunch, protocols for maintaining social distancing, walking our prescribed one way path of travel while on campus, all persons undergoing temperature taking on campus, and sanitizing efforts across campus.
(4) Most teachers will be done by lunch time and may leave campus after checking out in B2 (Ginny Bells' desk; Temp. Reception and Attendance offices).
Thank you for all you are doing! We wanted you to have one more piece of information to be able to plan and understand where we are going in this unique time.
And to end with another "feel good" video..check out these twins as they listen to Phil Collins for the first time. Reminds me of our students for sure!
