We will be testing ALL 10th Graders and some 11th on our MINIMUM DAY OCTOBER 19.
All students and parents received a reminder about minimum day--Sophomores and their parents got a very specific I.C. message about this day as well as paper reminders to sophomores about their room assignments and time on campus. All Sophomores are excused from period 1 and attend their testing room from 8:14-12:30 regardless of their normal bell schedule. National testing requirements prevent us from allowing students to leave early.
All faculty and staff got this email last week...but excellent resources and reminders are linked so here you go again:

Hi Wolf Pack Staff,

We are three days out from the PSAT. All of our tenth grade students will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 19th. This is the first year that West Hills will be testing an entire class of students, which is very exciting! You recently received an email from me, which includes a document called '16-17 WH PSAT Bell Schedule'. This document contains a link to a spreadsheet with each student's testing room assignment. On the day of the test, you can refer to this spreadsheet if a student is lost. However, if you do not have time to redirect a student, please send them to counseling and Pam Crenshaw will help them get to where they need to go.

Each teacher on our West Hills campus falls into one of the following three categories.

1. Proctor:  I have spoken to all of you and we will hold a prep period meeting on Thursday, 10/13 or Friday, 10/14 in the staff lounge.  Please select a day that is best for you contact me ASAP.

2. Non-Proctor with room usage: Your room will be borrowed during your prep period and you do not have to be present.  You are not a sub during this period of time. Yay! Please let me know if there is a room usage conflict.

3. Non-Proctor: If you are not a proctor and we are not borrowing your room during your prep period, admin does not need anything from you.  Buy a lottery ticket!

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions leading up to Wednesday!

We appreciate your help!

Exciting Experiences for Students....

On Oct 12th, Christine Cooper Marzec, winner of five Emmys for directing and editing, spoke to the CTE Arts, Media and Entertainment Pathway classes about the TV/Film industry.

Image result for rcp block santee  Last Friday, students from West Hills Advanced Manufacturing and Construction Trades Pathway went on a field trip to our own Santee RCP Block and Brick facility. Accompanied by Kathy Worley and Josh Reiderer, 40 students toured the facility, met with management and workers and learned about business practices and this high wage, high demand labor market. This program is moving to our "old" Auto Building on the east side of campus where it has been transformed into a state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing facility with 3-D Printer, networked computers, CAD blueprint facility and much more to come! Kudos to Kathy for her multi-year work with our CTE District staff in continuing our much beloved Guitar building and wood shop program while ADDING this 21st Century future-focused robotics and engineering pathway. More information to come on a "Grand Opening" when all technology is installed and completed.

Image result for air bands

Calling all Wolf Pack staff to participate in a Staff Airband! The premise is “Staff members reminisce about their own high school experience.”  We have put together 11 songs depicting 2 different themes:
1) struggles
2) victories and rites of passage.

There is a variety of music - classic rock, retro and modern pop, and movie/tv-made popular songs that most of the kids will recognize. The songs have already been edited into clips and corresponding dialogue/lyrics provided. In some cases there is even a suggested vision for the representation of that clip.

All you have to do is sign up! Your group will put together a routine for the song clip you wish to represent and make a recording of the corresponding dialogue. Each song has a suggested number of participants. There are in total 42-45 roles. Feel free to sign up for more than one role!

It would be great to have representation from all - classified, teachers, coaches, counselors, admin, campus supervisors etc. You can rehearse in your small group at your leisure and as we get closer to the performance day (which will be in February this year), we can rehearse as one large group...maybe on collab days ;) If there is a song clip that you are dying to represent but it is not listed, feel free to edit the music (MP3 file), include the lyrics and dialogue, then add it in with the rest.

If you have any questions, ask us (Debbie Heeb-WL4 and Todd Peterson-E3)!

As always, check out our website for lots of information. Go Wolf Pack!
