Our third meeting in our Focus Groups allows us to continue the cross department / cross staff discussions to address our collective understanding of our collective experiences with students in all of our programs. Right now we are focusing on the "What do we currently do?" and talk throughout the process, long-term, to know and understand the entirety of our school culture, climate, and outcomes for students. Our "Findings" will come out of our evidence. No one person can know and have all the evidence, thus the reason we are in large mixed groups with a variety of participants. It is critical that all faculty and staff participate and attend your Focus Group meeting. We are all in this together and every voice and perspective is valued and needed.

Please bring your laptop or come to the main office to check out a Chromebook prior to your WASC meeting on Monday. All work in all Focus Groups and in Departments for WASC will be via Google Docs. Thank you.

Instruction: meet in SS-3
Organization and Governance meet in E8
Curriculum meet in E10
Data & Accountability meet in E1
School Culture & Student Support meet in SS6

Not sure what group you are in? See the link here.

AVID College Tour News:

Jessica Fondas-Ryan and Ethan Castellanos current President and Vice President for AVID wanted to let you know more about AVID and their recent college tours. We have been involved in AVID for 4 years and took a college trip to Loyola Marymount University and CSU LA. CSU LA has a very impressive science program and one group of students even created a solar powered car that one numerous awards. The tour guide gave us a really brief, but informative tour, and the campus looked really nice When the tour was over and we went to walk back to the bus, there was a man giving out burritos and our whole group got free breakfast burritos! College is great! The second college, LMU, was very peaceful, and very beautiful-- the campus wasn’t that large, but it was very modern looking and everyone seemed to like it. LMU had a very attractive business program and it is known for giving many students job right after or even during their time at school. We appreciate teachers and staff in supporting AVID and our field trip. We are very grateful to Ms.Rafenstein, Mrs. Worth and Mrs. Kohler for working with us over our four years and keeping us motivated and focused on college!

Image result for Red Ribbon WeekThank you Mrs. Gwyn and the FRIDAY NIGHT CLUB for your efforts during our Red Ribbon Week last week. It was a great Halloween day with our our own BLUE and BLACK BRIGADE and our CHOIR, under the direction of Mr. Pezdek, as well as the Cast of "Zombie Prom", with the direction of Ms. Edwards, and our fabulous ASB leadership with Mr. Riego's leadership, for making our Friday and Monday campus activities at student lunch AWESOME!

Middle Schoolers coming on campus November 9 to view our wonderful Drama Kids! Any program that wants to do "early recruiting" to your CTE or Elective program...let Robin know--make a 1/2 sheet handout and we will copy and dispense them to these incoming 9th graders!

Our upcoming show dates are Nov. 10th @ 7 pm & Nov. 12th @ 7pm. The November 12 matinee is our "Pay What You Can" for 18 and under and then we have a 20 minute talk-back after the show with the actors and crew onstage. Zombie Prom is an upbeat musical that is a spoof of 1950's musicals. It is a great show for the entire family! We hope you can join us for some great singing, acting and Zombie shenanigans!!

Image result for Polling placeTUESDAY, November 8 WHHS is proud to continue to serve as a public POLLING PLACE in our GYM FOYER. The Registrar of Voters has notified us that they are expecting RECORD TURN OUT for voting and, due to the length of the ballot this election, people might take twice as long to vote as they normally due so PARKING will be in high demand as well wait times possibly. If we could park as far EAST in our FRONT FACULTY parking as possible as a courtesy to voters, that is very kind of us. We will be alerting parents and students via Infinite Campus as well in case there is heavy traffic at times during the day. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You may drop your completed mail in ballot here on this day if you like.

Content for Marketing WHHS on Social Media: This email  IS WORKING finally....The power of social media and having a pressence on social media sites like instagram, snapchat, and twitter is undeniable today. To that end, our Media Interns are prepared and ready to post, post, post but they need CONTENT.

If you have photos of programs, events, cool things with students that will present WHHS as the terrific school we ARE, please email them to whhsmedia@guhsd.net with a short caption. Our interns will take it from there to post as quick as they can.

My goal is that we have so much content, the two interns can "hardly keep up"! Anything that shows student product, students at work in collaborative groups, or at practice are all ideas we can use. So please give us content so we can post away!

Thanks for any and all contributions! Don't forget a one line explanation for context...thanks for assisting us in promoting students in ACTION, or TEACHERS and STAFF with STUDENTS, or anything new or cool that is positive for WHHS!
