To all faculty and staff for supporting and making our PSAT test day happen! Regardless of what role you played, EVERYONE contributed to an important opportunity to provide equity and access for our grade 10 and 11 students to this important assessment. Please see email from Asst. Principal Carrie Gaeir regarding the PSAT feedback form. We always want to hear from you to find out what worked and what did not so we make improvements for next year.

Thursday at the Department Chair and Leadership team meeting, we had a good discussion regarding the sensitive topic of our Bell Schedule. Overall, the decision was to convene a Bell Schedule committee made up of any interested Faculty and Staff members to discuss this topic. The discussion was informed by the most recent law signed by our Governor requiring all high schools to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. beginning in July 1, 2022 (or sooner if districts choose to implement sooner). Please see these links for your information:

Governor’s Law article from the L.A. Times
Any restructuring of our bell schedule is a GEA negotiated article and has strict processes and timelines. 70% of the GEA Bargaining Unit members must approve any restructuring.  The language may be found within the GEA Contract, Article 13, beginning on page 80.

If you would like to participate on this committee, please complete this short google form

Thank you.

Resource Snack Time Social.png

It's Resource Snack Time! You've maybe tried EasyBib, but have you tried out MyBib? It's worth trying out with students since EasyBib now has a lot of irritating ads. Plus, MyBib has nice built-in tips so that students actually participate in creating citations rather than just accepting incomplete ones that are automatically generated. See more info on this free web tool for creating MLA & APA citations: bit.ly/rst-mybib

Sports Medicine and Health Pathways

The East County Federal Credit Union partners with all of the public schools in East County and chose to highlight  West Hills and our Health Pathways in a short video promoted on social media. We are always looking for positive marketing opportunities and "bragging rights" about our wonderful teaching faculty and students. Thank you Ardy Riego and Penny McDowell for your participation, and thank you to ALL of our Medical Biology teachers--you are part of this important pathway too!
