Thank you so much to all who participated in our Articulation with Client Schools on Feb. 1 and our Showcase Zoom on Feb. 3!

On February 1, we held our third Articulation ¨breakfast" meeting with our Client Middle Schools Administrations and Counseling staff as well as some of other private and public middle schools that we know we have student interest. We delivered a dozen Mary´s donuts to each of our Santee schools to share the ¨breakfast"and got a shout out on Social Media! 😊

With many of the same folks involved in both events, we decided to record the Showcase night and you can see our recorded event here
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our Department Chairs, Program Coordinators and teachers, Counselor Mandi Albrecht, Athletic Director Lucas Hondros, PTSA President Abby Fazikas, All of our wonderful STUDENTS on our Panel, Asst. Principal Carrie Gaeir for her incredible Showcase Website and in organizing and leading the event, Asst. Principals John Hoadley and April Baker for their participation and their facilitation as well, and to Site Technologist Jovan Bessette for all of his help with the technology, A.P. Secretary Sarita Pitones and Counseling Secretary Pam Crenshaw for their work with all of the phone calls and requests for info for our night, and for all of YOU who were in the audience! We had a turn out of about 200 people and the website has gotten 800+ (and counting!) views!
While we could not bring people onto our campus in person for this event, we have had GREAT feedback from parents and held a great informative event! Our outreach continues with campus tours by request from households as well as asking YOU to please post to social media and sharing in any other way with your contacts our Showcase Website and our OPEN status for next year. School Choice (through March 5) is guaranteed for West Hills so if any student (transfer or incoming 9th) wants to enroll, this is the best option for them!

Update from WASC Coordinator Tanya Morrison (Social Science):

Good Morning Wolf Pack,

Our WASC Visiting committee (2 people) would like to visit a few PLC meetings that are planned for Monday March 1.  They are trying to alleviate the need to add additional Focus group meetings if they can have authentic interactions with PLCs that already meet- co-teacher meetings, grade level teams, etc.  At our Feb. 22 Faculty and Staff meeting, we will be discussing some D/F rate information and giving topics of discussion for PLCs  / Departments that might be ideal to discuss on Monday, March 1.

If you have a meeting scheduled for Monday 3/1 or would like to schedule a meeting Monday with your subject area team or department now that we no longer have the day reserved for focus groups,  please add your group to the attached document with zoom link for your meeting.

We hope to have a reasonable number of meetings available for them to pop into and have a thorough experience virtually visiting our school.

The committee will also be joining class zooms and looking through Schoology and Google Classrooms on Tuesday.

Thanks for your help with this...Tanya

Our blood drive is right around the corner. Please join us in saving lives in our community. There is no substitute for blood and no substitute for your generosity.

Schedule your appointment today:

https://www.mysdbb.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/69073 -

There is a face behind every blood donation.

Angel (pictured above) was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2010, at two-years-old. He underwent chemotherapy and required several blood and platelet transfusions as part of his treatment before going into remission in June 2011. Angel, now 11-years-old, loves playing soccer and Pokémon, and according to his mom he loves to talk! Your blood donation can help save people like Angel.

COVID-19 Surveillance Testing for Employees

The Mollison Complex is now closed. Those County health care workers have been deployed to vaccination sites instead. Please visit other San Diego County Office of Public Health sites for testing or contact your own healthcare providers for more information.

Reminder:  The following testing schedule for all GUHSD staff is:

Last name A-E:  test between January 11 and January 22, 2021

Last name F-L:  test between January 25 and February 5, 2021

Last name M-R:  test between February 8 and February 19, 2021

Last name S-Z:  test between February 22 and March 8, 2021

What is surveillance testing?

Surveillance testing, also known as routine testing, involves testing people on a regular basis to identify individuals who may be carrying the virus yet be asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic.

The purpose of surveillance tests is to monitor the current state of the epidemic and slow the spread of the virus through early identification.  It is used to monitor things like whether the COVID-19 virus is moving into new areas, whether it is affecting some groups of people more than other groups of people, or whether the number of cases is going up or going down.

Who should be tested and how often?

School and district staff members are essential workers who may have contact with students or other staff. According to the California Department of Public Health, school districts and schools shall test staff periodically, as testing capacity permits and as practicable, with the recommendation being to test all staff over the course of two months on a rotating basis, where 25% of staff are tested every two weeks.

Where do I go for testing?

You may contact your own physician for their recommendation or look for sites on the San Diego Public Health  Department website. This information can change, so it is best to look up the newest information just prior to testing.

What do I do with my results?

Test results should be submitted to COVIDtestresults@guhsd.net as soon as you receive them.  Test results are highly confidential, and access to them are limited to HR leadership. Should your results record positive, please stay home and notify your principal/supervisor immediately.

If any staff member chooses to make arrangements for their own testing through their healthcare provider, the County of San Diego, or any other testing location, the staff member must submit their results to COVIDtestresults@guhsd.net as soon as they are received.

And now we hope you are inspired by and can celebrate a ¨Higher Love"
