Level 3 Instructional Guidance

February 24, 2021

In preparation for Level 3, we wanted to provide you with some updated guidance and reminders.

Work Load / Level 3 Adjustment
As we established at the beginning of Quarter 3, we are continuing with the following practices:
  • 7 hours of instruction for pure 9th and 10th-grade classes
  • 10 hours of instruction for 11th, 12th, and mixed grade level classes
  • Instruction is the combination of in-person, required live Zoom, and asynchronous activities
  • A weekly calendar that documents each week’s instruction and time allotments
Live Instruction for Distance-Only Students / Tutorial
  • Some students and their parents have indicated that they would like more opportunities to connect directly with teachers. Many teachers have found success live Zooming during class time. Additionally, the just-negotiated two-hours of distance-only tutorial per week opens up opportunities for live Zooms outside the normal classroom schedule.
  • A Quarter 3 and 4 tutorial log and new timesheet request form links will be shared today or tomorrow.
Athletics Are Coming
  • As more sports start-up, teachers are asked to show flexibility for our student-athletes if practice times conflict with after-school live Zooms or other activities.
Calendar Update
  • The 2020-21 Calendar has been updated. It now includes Level 3 group changes and adjustments to the Weeks of March 8 and March 29 to minimize confusion.
  • Friday, March 26, is considered the first day of Quarter 4. Teachers should push out their Quarter 4 communications with students on that day. It is considered a distance learning day, and no live Zooms should be scheduled.
  • Currently, Week 5 of the Quarter 4 is reserved for testing. Once the CDE shares its plan, we will make adjustments as needed. This could include moving that week to meet site and district testing needs.
Thank you.

March 2021 Calendar: New Beginnings (bit.ly/mar21cal)

With Level 3 starting and Quarter 3 ending, March will be a time of change and new beginnings. This month’s calendar has reminders and links to resources to help students (and teachers) keep track of all that is happening.

Student Submissions Due 3/12/21 for Inkwell, WHHS’s Literary-Art Magazine (bit.ly/submitinkwell2021)

Please help us encourage your students to submit their original writing and/or artwork to be considered for publication in this year’s Inkwell. It could be something that they created in your class or for fun. If they have any questions, they may email ssannwald@gmail.com

And now for the feel good video of the week....the synergy of this wonderful professor and her students starts off Women´s History Moth nicely...
