Grossmont Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SB 95) Newest information sent from our District this week.

The District and GEA are discussing the idea of a quarter system for next school year for one year to assist with the transition back to campus and to support students with credit recovery.

This plan was shared with our Department Chair and Leadership Team today and we wanted to make sure it went out to all faculty and staff as well.  It is important to note this is a DRAFT plan and idea; GEA and the District have many details to discuss and work through IF this idea even has any "legs". Because many folks have asked Admin about our possible schedule for next year, we wanted to make sure you know this is being discussed for the entire District.

If no agreement is reached, West Hills will return to our 7 period, 54 mins. period bell schedule (as each high school and program in our District would return to their pre-2020-21 bell schedule).

To add to the overall conversation, in Dec. 2021, West Hills and all programs in our District would start the restructuring conversation within our Certificated staff regarding our bell schedule for 2022-23 since California passed the law that we would have to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m.

More to come as we know more to share...thank you.
Each year California asks high schools to survey two grade levels regarding nicotine and tobacco use. We saw a slight decline in the numbers of grade 9 and 12 students indicating they are using these substances and invite you to take a look at our TUPE Results from
2019-20. You might also know or remember that we have a partnership with SDSU Department of Public Health and have nursing students working with us in their Community Health Class giving classroom education programs. Thank you Jamie Gwyn (ENS) for being our TUPE Coordinator and for assisting us each year in these efforts!

And now a look at what some high schoolers did in Japan in 2019....
