Thank you for the discussion and reminders at our April 4th all faculty and staff meeting. I believe we are moving in the right direction on these conversations regarding West Hills and our perceptions of ourselves so we can continue to hone in on goals as part of our continuous school improvement work. Here are the 37 responses to date. The survey is still open and we welcome your participation! We will be using time in our "Back to School" meetings August 10-13 for more extended conversations and focus here. If you have an interest in planning any part of our return to school Professional Development,  please let Robin know.

Title I: On Thursday, Department Chair and Leadership discussed department discussions regarding Title I funding and ultimately voted to accept funding and moving the decision on to School Site Council (SSC) will discuss and vote on this later in April. If approved, we will then seek Board approval to add West Hills to the District Title I schools. We would then have a second vote in our May SSC meeting to make our Title I funds "school wide". Then that goes to the Board in preparation for the use of the funds in the 2016-17 school year. This is the single best funding source addition West Hills has had in many years and we will be able to increase services and supports to ALL of our students.

We begin implementing our modified school schedule the week of April 26th, with 11th graders testing in English classes and 10th graders taking the federally required Life Science test. Within the linked schedule you can see the variety of schedules we will be running, including AP testing and make-up testing for CAASPP into June. We must test 95% or more of our juniors so THANK YOU for your support. We have linked this schedule on our website, posters in classrooms, and will be giving Period 3 teachers hand outs for students to have and keep. We will also be conducting
"all calls" to parents and students as reminders and reminders to all staff and faculty.

The spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperone has two performances this week. WHHS Faculty and Staff are free! Simply attend and tell the greeters in the lobby your name. Mix-ups, mayhem, monkeys, gangsters, roller skates, and an airplane are only some of the hilarious elements in this musical!  Performances are: April 15th and 16th @7pm, in the Bob Guess Theatre.

Hopefully you were able to see WHHS art students display their beautiful work on Opening night in the foyer! If not, you will get another chance May 20-22 in Parkway Plaza as WHHS participates in the GUHSD Art show! Also, take a look at the beautiful work in our Admin hallway--we are grateful for our wonderful Art and Performing Arts teachers and their programs! Kudos to Mrs. Pate, Mrs. Samuelsz, Mr. Lorentz, Ms.Edwards, Mr. Van Dyke, Mr. Goodman, Mrs. Conant and Mrs. Cooper! We look forward to all the wonderful art and performances your students share with us!
