REMINDER: May 17 in Multi-Cultural Fair Day. Social Science classes bring their students to the GYM during the students normal Social Science class period. In this way, students experience the student performances, professional performances and the student cultural sharing with respect. Next year, this event will MOVE to coincide with Unity Days on campus. You can assist by incorporating as many curricular connections as you can within your own discipline. Thank you to all faculty and staff working with students this year on this event. Student leaders have demonstrated they care deeply about this event and they are working hard to make it a good one!

Image result for "We win"GUHSD wins Judgement in the Alpine lawsuit: Judge finds in favor of GUHSD on all counts. We will now be able to release $42 million dollars in "held" bond funds and move forward with our Prop U projects. For West Hills this means the planned HVAC replacement for our 27 year old heating and air conditioning units, moving forward with facilities and restrooms for Special Education students, and replacement of our fire alarm system.

Speaking of facilities, in preparation for our new Advanced Manufacturing Pathway starting up in 2016-17 under the energetic Ms. Kathy Worley, there will be construction and additional activity on the east access road as our "old Auto Shop" gets refurbished and renewed with CTE funds. And, prepare yourselves..coming in the 2016-17 school year is COVERED SOLAR PARKING. Installation over the front faculty lot and the Senior East Lot, installation was limited to areas of the campus where the current electrical junction boxes exist and the amount of sun light that can be captured as well as the maximum panels to be installed. At no cost to the GUHSD or West Hills, this will generate huge energy savings and reduce our dependency on non-renewable energy sources. It will cause short-term closure to parking in these areas at various times but it will be worth it. More information to come as it is known. Image result for covered solar parking
