Image result for you've been booedHave you seen a sign like this near you? Or maybe YOU'VE BEEN BOOED???   If YOU get BOOED, we hope you continue to "pay it forward" to a staff member on campus who has NOT been BOOED yet! You will see small ghost stickers on mailboxes in the main office so you know how often we are getting BOOED! If you do get BOOED, the idea is to use your own creativity and what is easy for you to use a Halloween themed idea(s) to inexpensively bring some random and surprise joy to anothers' day! (Instructions included) Individual Instruction Teacher Shayla Green enjoying her "Boo" on Friday!

Thank you all for the amazing support and follow through on our "epic" PSAT administration and minimum day! Department Chair and Leadership Team looks forward to our results some time in December or January and particularly looking at how our scores compare with our current juniors from last year to this year. It really took the ENTIRE school community to make this happen! This is an important "College and Career" site indicator for us and one that can assist us in evaluating and improving our already terrific academic program.

Congratulations to our very own
KATHY WORLEY named a finalist for California "Teacher o the Year"! Ms. Worley is one of  7 teachers out of 330,000 in California to reach this status.  She teaches Industrial Technology including: Drafting, Beginning Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Guitar Construction and Woodshop.  We are very proud and thrilled to have Kathy's dedication, passion and inspiration to students recognized, representing not only the best in teaching at West Hills, but also in the GUHSD and in our profession!

Dr. Tim Glover, Supt. GUHSD, Mr. Matt Norris, Mr. Josh Reiderer, Ms. Kathy Worley, Mrs. April Baker and Mr. Ardy Riego celebrate with Kathy upon her announcement as one of five "Teachers of the Year" for San Diego County. Ms. Worley was named Oct. 12 as a finalist for California "Teacher of the Year".

And speaking of Kathy....CONGRATULATIONS WHHS! We submitted a grant application to the

On Thursday, Kathy Worley, Josh Reiderer, Joe Sklenicka, and Robin Ballarin were the proud (surprise) recipients on behalf of WHHS of $10,000 to support our students! Asked to make a "presentation" to the final grant selection panel, we arrived at the Otterbox / Lifetouch Engineering headquarters, made our presentation and then were told--"This was a bit of a ruse--congratulations. You have been selected for a $10,000 grant!" This is terrific news and we welcome any teacher or staff member who would like to help us with this "Innovation Station"! The focus is on having ALL students who want to innovate and create with all kinds of materials the opportunity to do so without limiting it to students enrolled in a particular class. We are also looking to start "Lunch and Learns" with industry sector folks from both Otterbox and other Advanced Manufacturing entities. If you would like to coordinate this program with a small amount of effort and some extra pay, please talk with Robin.
