We wish Jean Conant all the best as she retires! Jean has taught 15 years here at West Hills in our CTE and Art departments teaching photography and digital arts. If you would like to sign a card for Jean, please see Ginny Bell in the main office. We are currently looking for a full time teacher to take on her teaching assignment. Please sign by Friday, Nov. 3...thank you.

And...after 24 years as our resident Live On near the pool and stadium, Eric Taylor will be moving on. Eric will continue in his role within the ETS department but he and his wife Anita will be enjoying the peace and quiet of Campo. We will introduce you to our new Campus Live on once they are identified. If you would like to sign a card for Eric, Ginny Bell has that one too in the main office. Please sign by Friday, Nov. 3...thank you.

James Searls for loaning us the wonderful EZ Ups for shade and to  Ardy Riego for providing our music for our Faculty Lunch on the Lawn Friday! We welcome any and all who want to come out for some laughs and lawn games. Our next lunch is in November...stay tuned for exact date.

And...KUDOS to our Guidance Department for the parent turn out mid-week for the Community College night and Saturday Scholars senior college application workshops! We have the highest UC "a-g" completion rates in the District and that is because of our "Academics First" focus and support! Thank you all who support our students in their post-secondary plans!

And speaking of Community College....

Gov. Brown signed AB19 last Sunday.  AB19 (aka the College Promise bill) provides for the first year of community college tuition free for first time students who enroll full-time in community college. We don't have too many details yet, but believe the class of 2018 will be the first class to benefit from this! As we find out more, we will share out to all.

Update: Department Chairs and Leadership reviewed our work to date and wanted to share with you our Focus Group work in identifying our "Areas of Strength" and "Areas of Growth" from each area. From these areas, we started drafting our 3 areas of focus as a schoolPlease take a look at these and talk amongst ourselves to see if this resonates. At our November 6 All Faculty and Staff PLC meeting, we will talk as a whole staff and discuss if these are agreed upon. Please give feedback to any in Admin, your Department Chair or Randy Cambou prior to the November 6 meeting. Thank you all for your honesty and efforts with our WASC work. We feel good about where we are and the integrity we have in this process.

Need some laughs? Please join us for a great night of comedy sponsored by our own WHHS Foundation!
All proceeds benefit WHHS!
