Image result for lunch on the lawn  Our first faculty and staff "Lunch on the Lawn" Friday was a lot of FUN!  One teacher noted "It was great to talk with people I normally don't get to see--so energizing and positive!" Another said "It was great to see kids reactions..they weren't sure what to make of us! Neat way to end the week!" We plan to continue this about once a month and hope all who came out enjoyed it! We know it is hard for staff that work during student lunch to serve their needs and continue to look for ways / ideas to bring us all together..if YOU have any ideas, please give them to Admin!

FDNY Rescue Remembrance Project

Thank you Social Science teachers for bringing students to this mobile museum. Many students also viewed it during break, lunch and after school. We are very proud and pleased to have been able to bring this unique artifact and live history museum to our school community. Remembering historic events, talking about them and learning from them is paramount in our democracy. We are grateful to the Santee and New York City Fire Departments for making this possible.

The terrific PBIS Committee has updated the Student Reflection Form for your use. The idea is to have a student who has made a poor decision that is of a low level nature, who needs a "time out" of class, to take the form and step outside to complete it. Then the teacher can step outside to review the form and talk with the student to try to get at the behavior to improve the outcome or to get the student more intervention as needed. It could also be used at the end of a class period, or in a conference with the student at the most appropriate time for both student and teacher. This is an optional opportunity for positive behavior supports with students at the teachers' discretion. Schools that have implemented this strategy have reported a decrease in low level student disruptions in class (excessive talking, walking around the classroom without permission, etc) and an increase in student / teacher positive relationships. Schools have also reported an increase in positive feelings overall from all community members about how they feel about their school. If you need a clipboard and copies of this form to facilitate your use within your classroom, please let us know via this google form and we will get you what you need.

Need some laughs? Please join us for a great night of comedy sponsored by our own WHHS Foundation!
All proceeds benefit WHHS!
