Zach Myers, Class of 2020 UPDATE: Zach's Miracle
On May 13, 2020, Zach suffered a traumatic brain injury. Today, he is healthy, working at Home Depot (where he worked before the accident as well) and is going to Grossmont College. Mrs. Myers wanted to thank everyone at West Hills for their prayers, emails, and strong positive thoughts. She made this video to document his journey....a true miracle. Good news even in Covid times!

for any staff member chooses to make arrangements for their own testing through their health
care provider, the County of San Diego, or any other testing location, the staff member must submit their results to COVIDtestresults@guhsd.net as soon as they are received.
You may use your own physician, or access one of the four sites listed below that have been exclusively established by the County of San Diego for school employees. You do not need an appointment to get tested and there is no cost to you. You may be asked to provide identification that shows you work for a school district (i.e., staff ID badge). The process is quick and easy, and the turnaround time for results is estimated at 24 hours or less. Tests are conducted by a shallow nasal swab and may be self-collected by the individual while observed by a public health nurse, or may be collected by public health staff if the individual chooses. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you and take care.

And now, a poem. Thank you Mrs. Romanowski for sharing this with me.
Good Bones
by Maggie Smith
Life is short, though I keep this from my children.
Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine
in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways,
a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways
I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least
fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative
estimate, though I keep this from my children.
For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.
For every loved child, a child broken, bagged,
sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world
is at least half terrible, and for every kind
stranger, there is one who would break you,
though I keep this from my children. I am trying
to sell them the world. Any decent realtor,
walking you through a real shithole, chirps on
about good bones: This place could be beautiful,
right? You could make this place beautiful.
